PROGRAM

Our future rests with today’s educators and their students. There is no cause more vital than to support the education of future citizens. The inspiration for this program was provided by Yvon Chouinard, and Craig Mathews and their alliance 1% For The Planet. While their leadership and commitment to addressing environmental issues and education through their alliance is important, the solutions for these and other issues are devised by the people we educate. Therefore we must continually invest in education.

Private contributions to education are vital, particularly due to the challenge of fund raising through traditional governmental means. Sources in 2005 have stated that public school funding is comprised of 8% Federal funds, 83% state and local, and 9% from private sources.

The One for Ed program is established to encourage and recognize the commitment of individuals and private enterprises to the support of educational institutions of all levels, public and private.

In order to be awarded an authorized logo license, entities can submit their credentials confidentially in either of two methods. In addition to the license, members will be recognized on the www.one4ed.org website, as well as those organizations that are the beneficiaries of their contributions.
